On my quest to battle my phone addiction, I’ve started going no-phone and recording what has been difficult/what I’ve missed. Here’s a list of them:

  • Out looking for books I found a second-hand store down the road. When they didn’t have the book I wanted I thought to go to more. Without a phone, this became difficult as I couldn’t simply google the closest next one.
  • When out, I was using my card to pay for things/transport. I didn’t know how much was on my accounts to know which card to use. Something that would be simply by going on my banking app.
  • I don’t wear a watch, so when I wanted to quickly know when a shop would close and if to bother going, I couldn’t be certain. There are far less clocks in public than I expected!
  • When I have ideas out and about I would write them in my phone notes. Without a phone I decided to take a small note book. It was hard to write notes when on the tube! Very bumpy.
  • When away from my phone I am vulnerable to missing emergencies. Specifically, a family emergency was missed because they couldn’t contact me.
